Hair color and skin type influence the success of Laser hair removal. The basic principle is that the hairfollicle pigment absorbs the light energy then normal neighbor tissue. Because a chromophore of the dark skin will affect faster than the laser hair removal, the treatment must be concerned the skin burning. The laser should damage only the hair follicle while avoiding damage to the skin. Therefore, a contrast between hair and skin color — dark hair and light skin — results in the best outcomes.
Darker skin types and individuals with a suntan are at a higher risk for pigmentary changes in the treatment area. These patients should be treated with lower fluences and/or longer pulse durations than similar skin types that are untanned.

The 808nm wavelength has moderate melanin absorption making it safe for dark skin. The 1064nm wavelength provides the extra thermal energy for more effective results. This combination of three different wavelengths allows to achieve long-term lasting results for hair removal and permanent hair reduction.
Long pulsed Alexandrite laser of MirageMax has a 755nm wavelength which is very effective to thin blondie hair for Caucasian people as skin type 1~2.
